Summer Reading:

The Fall Festival, is done around Halloween and is a large craft event where we host different partners at craft stations throughout the Children’s department, as well as special story times, book giveaways (Provided by First Five), raffle prizes and visits from favorite PBS characters. Everyone in the community is welcome to participate, and with having free prizes and books, we can reach the homeless demographic in the community and take the opportunity to model early literacy behaviors.

Winter Wonderland is a similar event hosted in the middle of December. At this event we focus on winter holidays. The event itself is more craft focused and about bringing families together for fun, free, holiday time.

In February we host a Silly Seuss Day where we go all out celebrating Dr. Seuss’ birthday, through story times, crafts, visit’s from the Cat himself, as well as snacks and prizes.

Then there is Rev, Rumble & Roar, which is our spring big truck event. We invite local organizations, government agencies, and businesses to bring their vehicles to the library allowing children and their families to get up close and personal to the machinery. Helicopters, Fire Engines, Police Cars, Garbage Trucks are present and there is even story time on a School Bus!

Summer Reading is a 6 week program that takes place in June & July. The goal of offering this program is to prevent the Summer Slide and keep kids reading for the love of it, when school is not in session. This is a reading incentive program where children read for prizes, if they complete all prize levels they get a free book and are able to finish more logs for additional free books. The more logs they complete the better chance they will have at the final raffle which is bicycles and accompanying safety gear for each age level.
